5 shocking practices tourists may experience

Travelling to foreign countries is one way to sight see and get to interact with people globally. Every country is populated by its own citizens who practice different cultures and also peak different languages.

As a traveler, you may be shocked by what you will see people practicing and you may deem others as outrageous or unnecessary behavior. While you may have an opinion about what people are practicing when travelling in a foreign country, it is always important to remember that people do so because it may be a practice that has been passed down for decades and decades.

Below are 5 things that will shock if you travelled to a foreign country.

Crowded public transport

As a traveler, you may opt to cut costs and use public transport such as trains and buses to move from one place to another. In some countries, you will find that the trains and buses are clean, highly maintained and no crowding is tolerated.
In other countries, crowding, shoving and pushing is a normal practice and as a first time traveller, this may shock you to the core. Regardless of this, you will still need to reach your destination therefore you have to oblige and join in the pushing. You may get to experience such a behavior in India.

Abject poverty

Many people who are used to living a flashy lifestyle in their countries are oblivious of the kind of poverty and struggle that people in their country are undergoing may find it shocking when they visit other countries and find people living on the street begging for money and food.

Across all continents except Antarctica and the Arctic circle, you will find beggars, drug pushers and other people with mental problems pushing through the crowd, throwing a dirty hand in the face of a drivers as well pedestrians in the hope of being given money or food to eat. Poverty is a common phenomenon in almost every country and all one needs to do is travel around.

Beer fests

In many countries, you will find that citizens do hold beer fests on certain months of the year but there are countries who make it a normal habit. If you are a traveller from a country that does not allow drinking of alcohol or does not hold beer fests frequently, you will be shocked when you visit some countries. Beer fests offer opportunities for people in a particular country to meet at a common place and enjoy various brands of beers produced in their country as well as some foreign brands.

Popup urinals

In the hope of providing better facilities to citizens, there are countries which are investing in various infrastructures. For example, in Turkey, that have dispensers where a recyclable material is deposited and dog food for stray dogs comes out while in others, charging stations for smartphones and tablets are being provided on bus stops and other areas.
In London, pop up urinals are provided therefore allowing citizens and travelers who are pressed to relieve themselves easily.

Refillable water and soda

Refillable water and soda dispensers allow clients in hotels and travelling visitors as well to quench their thirsts with ease. This is a very convenient facility. When it comes to refillable soda, it is wise not to overdo it as it could lead to severe complications later.
